So often these days we hear about the negatives in society and very few times do we hear about the little things that people do. I would like to recognize three separate incidents of kindness, selflessness and compassion.

A youth football player, who was doing fundraising, lost his raffle tickets and $30 with them. A woman searched for a contact for the league and found my name and contacted me so that the money and raffle tickets could be returned to the child.

I dropped my credit card somewhere in Lewiston and a man found it, looked for me on Facebook and other Web areas, called my house and drove there to return the card. The man would take nothing for his trouble except a thank you.

Lastly, I was standing in Shaw’s supermarket and there was a woman who thought she had enough money for her groceries but realized she did not and was nearly in tears. The woman standing behind her took out her credit card and paid the additional $18. They had never met before and did not know each other. The appreciative woman, still crying, gave the generous lady a hug. Even the Shaw’s associates were touched by this kindness.

Kudos and “thank you” to those who give of themselves.
