MEXICO — Pine Tree Cellular wants your vote and it’s campaigning all over the River Valley for it.

Marie Cote, who owns the U.S. Cellular store in Mexico, believes Mountain Valley High School can represent RSU 10 and gain enough votes through the Calling All Communities competition to win a percentage of the $1 million giveaway.

This is the third year U.S. Cellular has had a Calling All Communities competition awarding a share of $1 million to 18 schools nationwide. This year one school will win $150,000 and the remaining 17 schools will win $50,000 each.

“I want this year to be our year and I truly believe we can do that,” Cote said.

Cote has been passing out flyers about the campaign at school games and events for the past two weeks. During Mountain Valley’s homecoming parade on Friday Pine, Tree Cellular had its own float encouraging residents to vote.

“Many of the past champions report that the competition stimulated an equally rewarding sense of community that has lasted long after confetti from the surprise announcements was swept away,” Cote said.

Cote wants to encourage citizens to stop into the U.S. Cellular store on Main Street in Mexico to pick up a flyer that will give them a code to vote daily until Oct. 6.

Schools that have won in the past have outfitted their classrooms with new computers, Promethean Boards and other technologies.
