FARMINGDALE — Freshman forward Arianna Kahler scored both goals as Lisbon edged out Hall-Dale 2-1 in MVC field hockey action Monday.
The Bulldogs scored first with a goal from Ally Moran before the midpoint. Hall-Dale played aggressively despite being outshot 33-3 by Lisbon.
The Greyhounds (7-2) found the back of the net twice and early in the second half. Olivia Harrington assisted on the equalizer.
Goalie Hannah Perry made 20 saves for Hall-Dale, while goalie Devon Brewer deflected a pair to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
Spruce Mountain 4, Telstar 1
BETHEL — Erin Gates notched a hat trick to lead Spruce Mountain to a 4-1 victory over Telstar in MVC field hockey action Monday.
The Phoenix (8-0) took control in the first half, scoring three of their four tallies in the opening stanza.
But, senior center forward Lindsay Merrill spoiled the shutout with a tally early in the second half for the Rebels (3-6).
Goalie Hali Barter made 12 saves for Telstar, while goalie Ashley Quirrion had three stops to earn the win in net for Spruce Mountain.
Edward Little 4, Hampden 0
AUBURN — Hannah Johnston posted two goals and an assist to lead Edward Little to a 4-0 shutout victory over Hampden Academy in field hockey action Monday.
The red hot Red Eddies (4-2-1) outshot Hampden by a margin of 24-4. Courtney Pelletier contributed a goal and an assist, while Tori Couture added a goal.
Goalie Maggie Ross was busy in net for Hampden (1-8) with 17 saves, while goalie Amanda Williams only needed three saves to earn the win in net for Edward Little.
Girls’ soccer
St. Dom’s 3, Winthrop 0
WINTHROP — Junior midfielder Courtney Costello notched a pair of goals as St. Dom’s grabbed a 3-0 shutout victory over Winthrop in MVC girls’ soccer action Monday.
The Saints (6-2) found the back of the net just 20 seconds into the contest. Kayla McLellan fed Costello on the opening tally. Freshman midfielder Emily Caron rounded out the scoring for the Saints.
Goalie Danielle Pease fended off eight shots for the Ramblers (0-8), while goalie Mary Caron had three saves to earn the win for St. Dom’s.
Spruce Mountain 2, Wiscasset 1
WISCASSET — Vanese Barnes scored the game-winning goal with 10:25 remaining in regulation to lift Spruce Mountain to a 2-1 victory over Wiscasset in girls’ soccer action Monday.
Alexi Deering put the Phoenix on the scoreboard first on a center feed from Lindsey Allen. Alecia Faulkingham provided the Redskins with an equalizer at the 9:14 mark for a 1-1 tie at the half.
Goalie Carolyn Footer made seven saves for Wiscasset, while goalie Emily Keene turned back three shots to earn the win in net for Spruce Mountain.
Mt. Abram 1, Monmouth 0
MONMOUTH — Junior midfielder Taylor Henderson managed to breach the plane in front of the net for the only goal of the game as Mt. Abram took a 1-0 victory over Monmouth in MVC girls’ soccer action Monday.
The Mustangs (5-4) controlled the offense, outshooting the Roadrunners (5-3-1) by a margin of 14-4. Henderson’s goal was assisted by Raven Reindeau and planted into the back of the net with 15:37 remaining in the first half.
Goalie Natale Young had three saves for Monmouth, while goalie Allison Lopez redirected eight to earn the win in net for Mt. Abram.
Lisbon 5, Madison 1
MADISON — Chelsea Huston and Kayla Angelico scored two goals each as Lisbon dashed to a 5-1 triumph over previously undefeated Madison in girls’ soccer action Monday.
The Greyhounds (5-2-1) put five goals on the board in the first half. Brooke Lawrence rounded out the scoring for Lisbon.
Natalie Michaud scored the only Bulldog (7-1-0) in the losing effort.
Goalie Savanna Kanako made nine saves for Madison, while goalie Alexa Harmon turned away five shots to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
Boys’ soccer
Yarmouth 3, GNG 0
Gray — Ryan Maguire scored a goal and an assist as Yarmouth sailed to a 3-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ soccer action Monday.
The Clippers (6-2-1) took a 2-0 halftime lead behind goals from Travis Hamre and Brandan Dioli. Maguire notched the final goal in the second half.
Goalie Spencer Harriman made two saves for the Patriots (4-4-1), while Chris Knaub had three saves for Yarmouth in the winning effort.
