AUGUSTA — Virginia E. “Ginny” Burrill, 92, a resident of Hillside Terrace in Hallowell and Wayne, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 25, at Maine General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 11, 1919, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Herbert and Lila (McKenna) Jones. Ginny graduated from Lynn English High School and Chandler Business School. She worked for many years at General Electric, where she met her husband.

In 1948 in Lynn, Mass., Ginny married Richard Burrill and raised their two children. She also worked at Sanders Manufacturing in Readfield and other area businesses and retired in 1983 after 10 years with Maine Department of Transportation.

After retirement, Ginny and Dick wintered for several years in Venice, Fla. To say Ginny was a “People Person” was an understatement, she got her greatest pleasure out of making people happy and being on the go all the time. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family.

She is survived by her son, Scott Burrill and his wife, Linda, of Chelsea; her daughter, Cynthia Phillips and her husband, Robert, of Wayne; two grandchildren, Baylee and Ricky Phillips; and stepgrandson, Daniel Phillips.

Ginny was predeceased by her parents; a stepbrother; and her husband, Richard M. Burrill.
