RUMFORD — Walter J. “Jim” Hutchins, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 25, at his residence on the Wyman Hill Road.

He was born in Lewiston, July 7, 1932, a son of the late Charles and Beatrice (Prout) Hutchins. He attended schools in Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1952. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Diamond International and the Rumford Hospital in the maintenance department.

He was married in Buckfield, July 23, 1955, to Sylvia Stinchfield, who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include a son, Daniel and his companion, Cynthia Veilleux, of Rumford; grandchildren, Kristen and Jamie Hutchins of Rumford; brother, Earl of Georgia; sisters, Barbara of Ohio, Jean of Florida, Lita of Ohio, Brenda of Hartford, Shirley of Livermore, Helen of Woolwich and Mae Diane of California.

He was predeceased by siblings, Donald, Vivian, Everett and Sandra.
