FARMINGTON — Two men face charges after a fight Monday afternoon on downtown streets, police said.
Kevin Crandall, 27, of Wilton was sitting in the doorway of a stairway leading to apartments over Dick’s Barbershop on Broadway at about 4:05 p.m. when Stephen Peabody, 25, of Fayette came by, Farmington’s Deputy Chief Shane Cote said.
An argument developed into an assault and fight when Peabody told Crandall to stay away from his girlfriend. Crandall threatened to stab Peabody, Cote said.
Crandall said drops of blood splattered on the sidewalk in front of the barbershop when he cut his hand on mailboxes in the hallway during the scuffle, Cote said.
When police arrived, the two were found in front of Tranten’s on Main Street, Cote said. Police did not find a knife.
Crandall apparently was visiting a tenant above the barbershop, he said.
He was arrested on a charge of violation of condition of release from a recent arrest on a charge of domestic violence assault, Cote said. Crandall was given a court summons on a charge of threatening, he said.
Peabody received a court summons on a charge of assault, Cote said.
Each is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 1.
