HAMPDEN — Sophomore midfielder Yusuf Yama pocketed the game-winning goal midway through the second half as Lewiston edged Hampden Academy 1-0 in KVAC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.

Yama took a throw-in from Mohamed Ali and made a couple of nifty moves before booting the ball into the right corner of the cage from six yards out for the Blue Devils (6-1-1). The ball ping-ponged around before settling just inside the left corner.

Dirigo 3, Mt. Abram 2

SALEM — Chad Snowman took a Cody St. Germain feed and slipped into the net with 1:10 left in the first overtime to give Dirigo a 3-2 victory over Mt. Abram in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

In the first half, Dirigo (6-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Hunter Ross and Josh Turbide, who scored on a penalty kick.

The Roadrunners (2-3-3) jumped back in the fray when Parker Kennedy scored on a penalty kick and Alex Lopez scored, tying the game at 2-2 late in the second half.

Mountain Valley 8, Spruce Mountain 4

JAY — Simon Jensen turned in a hat trick and Austin Glover scored a pair of goals as Mountain Valley came down on Spruce Mountain with an 8-4 victory in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday afternoon.

The Falcons were holding a 3-1 lead when they exploded with five goals in the second half. Rounding out the scoring for Mountain Valley were Robin Baxmann, Andrew Phelps and Andrew Child.

For the Phoenix (3-4-1), Tyler Gervais scored a pair of goals and Jake Freeman and Jon Neil dropped in a goal.

St. Dom’s 4, Winthrop 0
WINTHROP —   Jordan Charest led a well-balanced attack as St. Dom’s hustled to a 4-0 victory over Winthrop in a KVAC boy’s soccer matchup Tuesday.

Eric Link, Josu Asun and TJ Rotolico also tallied for the Saints (7-0-1) to complete the scoring. Ben Sawyer needed only four saves to notch the shutout.

Cameron MacMillan turned back eight shots for Winthrop (0-7-1).

Mount View 1, Oak Hill 0
THORNDIKE —   Trevor Diemer scored off a penalty kick with 5:20 left in regulation to give Mount View a 1-0 victory over Oak Hill in more KVAC boy’s soccer action.

Chris Montminy made six saves to record the shutout for Mt. View (7-1-0), while Sam Morin turned aside 14 shots for Oak Hill (2-6-0). 

Mt. Ararat 0, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON —   Despite a combined shot total that exceeded 30, Mt. Ararat and Mt. Blue had to settle for a 0-0 deadlock Tuesday in more mid-season KVAC boy’s soccer Tuesday.

Colton Hall played hard for the Cougars (4-3-1) despite being injured, while Blake Hart also made a strong effort.

Gage Pelletier made seven saves for Mt. Ararat, while Matt Crowley turned aside 14 shots for Mt. Blue.

Edward Little 7, Skowhegan 0
SKOWHEGAN —   Nate Blais recorded a hat trick Tuesday to lead Edward Little to a 7-0 rout over Skowhegan in more KVAC boy’s soccer action.

Ian Therriault chipped in for the Red Eddies (3-4-1) with a pair of goals, while single tallies from Zack Tannenbaum and Brandon Cote completed the scoring.

Ben Bowles and Mike Core split time in goal for EL, with three saves between them. Chase Palmer turned back 16 shots for Skowhegan.

Buckfield 5, Rangeley 0
RANGELEY —   Alan Hedrick led a group of five players to register goals Tuesday as Buckfield hustled to a 5-0 victory over Rangeley in a EWC boy’s soccer tilt. 

Trevor Averill, Dustin Damon, Morgan Lueck and Louiz Guillerme also tallied for the Bucks (4-4) to complete the scoring.

Calvin Downey made four saves for Buckfield, while David Batchelder turned aside 15 shots for Rangeley.
