LEWISTON — Carol A. Buteau, 69, a resident of Jefferson Street, Auburn, died Wednesday morning at Central Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston Sept. 3, 1942, the daughter of James F. and Blanche Powers Dowling.
She was a 1961 graduate of Lewiston High School. She was most proud of her family that she raised while also working as a bank teller at the former Atlantic Bank until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time camping at Maine lakes, especially Sebago Lake and Brandy Pond. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and volunteering at both CMMC and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Buteau and wife, Joan, of Bernardsville, N.J., and Michael Buteau and wife, Emily, of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Stefanie Carson and husband, Tim, of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; two brothers, William Dowling of Maine and James J. Dowling and wife, Jackie, of Auburn; one sister, Maureen Williams and husband, Jim, of Lisbon; eight grandchildren, Megan, Caitlin, and Mitchell Buteau, Lauren, Kaylee, and Rylee Carson, as well as Kyle and Alicia Buteau. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her stepfather, Maurice Gordon.
