LISBON — A local man accused in a series of break-ins was arrested Thursday on charges of burglarizing Benoit’s Bakery and Wine Cellar on Route 196 the day before.
Jason Adams, 30, was arrested by Lisbon detectives on charges including burglary, theft, forgery and seven outstanding warrants for bail violations.
An investigation by Lisbon Detectives Bernie McAllister and Bill Tapley, working with Topsham police Chief Tim Young and officer Mark Lafontaine resulted in the apprehension of Adams in connection with a burglary at the Benoit’s Bakery and Wine Cellar on Wednesday, where several items were taken, police said.
In addition, he was charged with possession of cocaine by Topsham police in that town.
Earlier this month, Adams was indicted on nearly two dozen counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. The indictments charge that in the past four months he broke into several homes and businesses in Lisbon and Auburn seeking copper and other items.
He was also indicted on forgery and negotiating a worthless instrument charges, accused of stealing a credit card and passing bad checks.
According to McAllister, there were outstanding warrants for Adams for bail violations from both Androscoggin County Superior Court and Springvale District Court.
In the indictment, Adams’ address is listed as 6 Larry Drive, although police said when he was arrested Thursday, he was considered transient.
Adams has previous convictions for theft and negotiating worthless instruments, according to court documents.
He was at the Androscoggin County Jail on Thursday night with bail on the burglary, theft and forgery charges set at $10,000; and no bail on the seven outstanding warrants, a jail spokesman said.
