DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone out there knows what has happened with Old Orchard Beach Pizza? I have tried to called with no answer, so I drove to the shop and found it closed with no information on if it has closed for good. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find anything online, and no one answered the phone. Readers?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found an article online in your Saturday, Oct. 3, 1953, paper. It is about a Mr. E. Hussey of Kezar Falls who built baseball bats and ladders out of his one-man shop. Someone scanned your paper, but I can’t print it. I found one of his bats in an antique store and would like to put this article with it in my collection. Can you help me? Maybe you have a PDF file on this I can print? — Todd Boulanger, Tbcth1@msn.com

ANSWER: You are probably referring to the archive of old newspapers completed by Google. Sun Spots has had many inquiries about printing. Unfortunately, the Google archive does not permit direct printing. If you are fairly good on your computer, there are a couple of techniques you can use to get around this. You can read about them at sunjournal.com/sun-spots/story/1014977 (“Google archive printing possible, not easy”).

The other option is to visit the Lewiston Public Library and print the article you want from the microfiche. The library has most (not all) of the Sun Journal, as well as the old Sun and Evening Journal, in its system.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Have the craft fairs been published for this year? Thanks in advance. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots does not publish announcements of craft shows unless they are looking for vendors. Most craft fairs appear in the Check It Out calendar, as well as in the Connections pages. Editor Corey LaFlamme, who edits that content, said she would publish them as they come in, so send them along.

Following are two November shows looking for vendors.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Auburn Esplanade at 20 Great Falls Plaza in Auburn is hosting its third annual Christmas craft fair on Friday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is open to the public for both shoppers and crafters alike.

If you are interested in having a table at this event, please call Michaelle at 782-6481. A $10 prepaid fee for your table is required by Oct. 28.

No admission fee if you wish to come browse the crafts. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, and lunch will be available. — Laura Bragdon, lbragdon@auburnhousing.org

All interested vendors can obtain a vendor form from the Spruce Mountain Middle School Office, emailing tfrost0323@gmail.com or by calling 320-0590. Space is $30 per vendor and all forms need to be returned with payment by Oct. 22.

All proceeds for the event will be used for the Spruce Mountain Middle School. Only one direct sales vendor per company allowed for this event, with first come, first served. So get your forms in if you are interested in participating.

There will be a planning meeting at the middle school for all those interested in volunteering for the event on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. — Tammy Frost, tfrost0323@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Tis the season for crafts. I have five rolls of yarn on the cone, which are to be used on a knitting machine, for free. The colors are light turquoise, light blue, white, light pink and periwinkle. If interested, please call. — Barbara, tdoyle26444@roadrunner.com, 312-9399
