PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The Maine Warden Service says it has recovered the body of a 28-year-old man following a boat crash.
Authorities say Jacob Beal of Cherryfield was in a bass boat on Friday with a friend on Schoodic Lake in Washington County when it crashed, sending both men into the lake. The crash happened about 6 p.m.
Bystanders heard the cries of the friend, Jack Williams, who was not harmed. Beal never re-surfaced.
Authorities conducted an all-night search in the lake, which runs between 25 and 35 feet deep. Beal’s body was recovered about 11 a.m. Saturday.
An investigation is continuing, but wardens indicate that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
