TURNER — Mariah Treadwell and Tori Zupancic scored two goals apiece to lead Leavitt to a 5-0 victory over Belfast in a KVAC girls’ soccer game Saturday on Homecoming weekend.

The Hornets (5-2-2) scored four times in the first half to put the game away early.

Melissa Richardson also scored for Leavitt, while Zupancic, Alex Hudner and Sydney Nadeau had assists.

Leavitt blanked the Lions in shots and corners, 19-0 and 7-0. Leavitt goalie Kelly Pomerleau never touched the ball. Ashley Littlefield made 11 saves for Belfast (2-7).

St. Dom’s 6, Boothbay 0

AUBURN — Junior forward Kayla McLellan recorded a hat trick to lead St. Dom’s to a 6-0 shutout over Boothbay in MVC girls’ soccer action Saturday.

The Saints (7-3) jumped out to a quick start as Kayla McLellan found the back of the net 57 seconds into the contest and led 3-0 at the midpoint.

Kelley McLellan contributed a goal and two assists for St. Dom’s.

Goalie Mikayla McFetridge made 10 saves for the Seahawks (3-7), while goalie Mary Caron turned back three shots to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.

Lisbon 8, Winthrop 0

LISBON — Six different Lisbon players scored and Alexa Harmon had an easy day in the cage with only one save as the Greyhounds toppled Winthrop 8-0.

Kayla Angelico and Brooke Lawrence netted a pair of goals each for the Greyhounds (7-2-1), while Paige Galligan, Chelsea Huston, Jenna Clifford and Olivia Bulgin added one each. Angleico and Galligan also added a pair of assists each in the rout.

Lilly Beauregard stopped nine shots for the Ramblers (0-10).

Boys’ soccer

Leavitt 2, Gardiner 0

TURNER — Freshman Madison Noel buried a crossing feed from Zach Hudner in the first half and Brandon Morissette tacked on another goal on a laser from just outside the 18-yard box to carry Leavitt to a 2-0 victory over Gardiner.

Anthony Tedesco picked up the helper on Morissette’s tally for the Hornets (2-6-1) in their homecoming game. Korey Mulherin picked up the win in net with an eight-save effort.

Yarmouth 4, Poland 2

POLAND — Ryan Maguire scored the eventual game-winning goal just six minutes into the second half as Yarmouth discharged Poland 4-2 in boys’ soccer action.

Nathan Rybeck and Nigel Williams evened up the score twice in the first half for the Knights (2-7). But, the Clippers (7-2-1) turned up the tempo in the second half with two unanswered tallies.

Goalie Dillon Douglas made six saves for Poland, while goalie Chris Knaub stopped three to earn the win in net for Yarmouth.

Field hockey

Hampden 3, Lewiston 2

HAMPDEN — Sheyla White scored the eventual game-clinching goal as Hampden collected a 3-2 victory over Lewiston in KVAC field hockey action Saturday.

The Broncos (2-10) had taken a 2-1 lead into intermission, and went up 3-1 midway through the second half.

Freshman Erin Hubbard converted a relay from Marissa Zanoni with 6:42 remaining in regulation to cut the deficit in half. But, the Blue Devils (2-7-2) failed to find the net again.

Goalie Ravon Palmer defended 11 shots for Lewiston, while Maggie Ross earned the win in net with seven saves.

Freeport 3, Poland 1

POLAND — Karissa Lavers scored a pair of second-half goals to lift Freeport to a 3-1 victory over Poland.

Katie Turner struck first on a breakaway to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. But, Amanda Gibson answered back 10 minutes later by collecting her own rebound and driving the ball into the net for the Knights.

Lavers nabbed a couple of unanswered goals in the second half to secure the win for Freeport.

Goalie Melora Lavoie made 13 saves for Poland, while goalie Marion Martin prevented five to earn the win in net for Freeport.

Berwick 1, Hebron 0

HEBRON — Kristin Jones notched the lone goal of the game as Berwick edged Hebron 1-0 in field hockey action Saturday.

Jones scored at the 13:14 mark of the second half for the Bulldogs.

Goalie Sara Grover made seven saves for the Lumberjacks (1-3), while goalie Sara Brodeur turned away six shots to earn the win in net for Berwick.

Football

Portsmouth Abbey 40, Hebron 8

HEBRON — Drake Kreinz seized three touchdown runs to lead Portsmouth Abbey to a 40-8 triumph over Hebron Academy in football action Saturday.

The Ravens (1-1) led 21-0 at halftime behind a pair of touchdown runs from Kreinze sandwiching Matthew Brigham’s 29-yard run at the start of the second quarter.

Royce Finley managed the only Lumberjack (0-2) touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Mike Fitzsimmons rushed for the extra two points.
