LEWISTON — Juan “Johnny” Garza passed away on Sept. 30, from complications of liver disease, with his wife at his side. John was 55.

His parents are Elena and Gonzalo Garza of Monte Alto, Texas. He was married to Bonnie Lee-Garza on Dec. 8, 2007, in Mcallen, Texas. He had two stepchildren, Glenn Stoodley and Callie Ollis; two biological children, Connie Tenke and Elizabeth Tenke of Center Moriches, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Willow, Keegan and Aiden Ollis of Mechanic Falls; six siblings, Rojelio and his wife, Dahlia, Steve and his wife, Mary, Gonzalo Garza and his wife, Rosie, Linda Campos and her husband, Johnny, Lucy Garcia and her husband, Tony and Lilly Avalos, all of Texas.

Most people would take one look at Johnny and assume that he was mean, but truthfully Johnny had a very loving, caring heart, loved his family, especially his mother, and would give the shirt off his back. He was honest whether you liked it or not and he believed that God was great, and most would be surprised to learn that before any event John would go into his room and get on his knees and pray. I loved that about him.

There will be a service in Texas on Thursday at the family’s request.
