MECHANIC FALLS — Harvest Hill Farms has proclaimed the 2nd week of October as Andrew’s Week to raise funds for Andrew Berry, the disabled Saco boy whose pumpkin patch was destroyed by vandals.

Andrew’s father, Jason Berry, said the family had planned to sell the pumpkins from their roadside patch to raise money for Andrew’s needs.

Andrew has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. However their hopes and plans were dashed the night of Aug. 28 when vandals stole their biggest pumpkins and destroyed the rest of the patch.

When Peter Bolduc, owner of Harvest Hill Farms and Pumpkin Land, heard about Andrew’s misfortune, he contacted Andrew’s mom, Robin, and said he would like to sponsor Andrew’s Week at Harvest Hill Farms and will kick off the week in conjunction with the opening of the Field of Dreams.

The Field of Dreams is a scaled down version of Pumpkin Land that will be open weekday afternoons Tuesday through Friday starting the second week of October in response to moms, dads and grandparents who would like to bring preschool children to the farm during the week.

Bolduc is donating a portion of proceeds from pumpkin sales during Andrew’s week in Andrew’s name to the Morrison Developmental Center in Scarborough and to the Epilepsy Foundation of Maine.

Andrew’s family was elated when Bolduc extended an invitation to the family to visit Pumpkin Land on Oct. 2 to help kick off Andrew’s Week.
