AUBURN — Armand J. Gauvin, 85, a resident of Elm Street, Jay, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin.

He was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Springfield, Mass., the son of Adrien and Alexina (Belanger) Gauvin. He attended school in St. Adalbert, Quebec, Canada. On Sept. 15, 1948, in Canada, he married his wife of 63 years, Rejeanne L. Jean.

He worked as a woodsman and truck driver in Canada, before moving to Jay. After moving, he worked for Isaacson Lumber Co. for 22 years, before retirement. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Armand was devoted to his family and always looked forward to gatherings with his family and friends, along with time spent visiting in Canada and Old Orchard Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Rejeanne Gauvin of Jay; his stepmother, Jeanne d’Arc Gauvin of Quebec; his children, Marielle Gauvin and her companion, Robert Lanthier, of Montreal, Quebec, Lynn Fournier and her husband, Lionel, of Jay, Lili Adams and her husband, Bill, of Jay, Yvan Gauvin and his wife, Brenda, of Lewiston, Yoland Gauvin and his wife, Cindy, of Jay, Frances Savage and husband, Gary, of Saco, Chantal Jacques and her husband, James, of Jay and Paula Deshaies and her husband, Dan, of Old Orchard Beach; son-in-law, Marcel Bourgault of Montreal, Canada; his sister, Rita Pelletier of Montreal, Canada; half brothers, Michael Gauvin of Quebec, and Robert Gauvin of Quebec; half sisters, Francine Chouinard of Quebec, Claire Moreau of Quebec, Madeleine Belanger of Quebec, and Carolyne Gauvin of Quebec; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Coco Gauvin; his daughter, Diane Bougault; his sisters, Margaret Deschenes and Theresa Fortin; and brothers, Phillip, Lionel and Aurel Gauvin.
