FRYEBURG — The Oxford County Republicans have been conducting a straw presidential poll at the Fryeburg Fair.

The poll was started at the Oxford County Fair and the results will be published on the party’s website when it’s finished, Oxford County Republican Party Chairman Steve Merrill said. Merrill said the poll was open to all voters and all candidates were on the ballot.

“It’s just a straw poll to see where the public is at on the presidential candidates,” Merrill said. He encouraged members of any party or unenrolled voters to participate.

To participate in the straw poll at the fair, visit the Oxford County Republican Party’s booth, which is in the Commercial Building, next to the Pulling Barn.

The booth is staffed from the time the fair opens until it closes, Merrill said.

Rick Bennett, a former state lawmaker from Oxford and the Maine Republican Party’s National Committeeman, will be at the booth Saturday and Maine Speaker of the House Bob Nutting, R-Oakland, will be there Sunday from 10:30 a.m. into the early evening.

The public is invited to stop by and chat with Bennett about the RNC on Saturday and with Nutting about the party’s 2012 Maine legislative agenda on Sunday.

When concluded, the results of the straw poll will be published online at: www.oxfordcountygop.com.
