DEAR SUN SPOTS: Great column! I clean for a 93-year-old lady, and I am looking for a small, square or rectangle, drop-leaf table for her. I am also looking for a small (30-inch) clean, smoke-free, roll-away bed.

In the past you printed information on a place near College and Bartlett streets that has free or cheap furniture and also a church organization in Hartford. Any information on either place would be greatly appreciated. I have checked the classifieds, Salvation Army and Goodwill but without any luck.

I can be reached at 364-7018 or emailed at maryj04276@yahoo.com. Thanks. — Mary, Rumford

ANSWER: St. Martin de Porres Bargain Basket is at the corner of College and Bartlett streets (786-4690). The only place Sun Spots knows in Hartford is the Hartford Community Church Clothing Center, but that won’t do you much good since you want furniture.

With times so tough, used furniture may be in short supply, but perhaps a reader will be able to help.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of any organizations that would take some old sports trophies? My kids have many from when they participated in sports 10 years ago. I’m looking for someone who could make use of these. If you know of any contacts, it would be appreciated. — Maureen Mennealy, reeniesab1@aol.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots got some hits on Google (Awardex.com, Awardsmall.com), but when she went to the sites they said they were not accepting used trophies at this time. You could check back later. Or perhaps readers will know of a local resource.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of any consignment shops around Lewiston-Auburn that specialize in baby and toddler items? — Nathan McCarron, ncfl_maine@hotmail.com

ANSWER: There used to be one, but Sun Spots believes that it closed last year. A new mother recently told Sun Spots that yard sales are a good place to get baby and child items. Readers will probably have lots of good suggestions as well.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: With thanks for the great service you perform, I’m back again asking for your help. I have a large box of sewing/quilting scraps, as well as quilting magazines and books, to give away. Anyone interested can reach me at 784-7232. — No Name, Auburn

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have received help in the past from your column and need help again. I am an art teacher at a small Christian school in South Paris, and money is tight for us this time of the year. We are in need of art supplies, which can be a big expense.

We need easels, standing and tabletop, pottery wheels, a small kiln oven, baking clay, wood-burning tools, ceramic slip and glaze along with ceramic molds. We would like very much to expose our students to more hands-on art, but need the equipment to achieve this.

Thank you in advance for anything that can be given or sold at a reasonable price to our art department. I can be reached at 461-1834. — Maria Whitney, bmw3182000@hotmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Having cleaned up from having my yard sale on Sept. 9 on Newberry Street in Auburn, there were two items left behind. One is a build-a-bear body and the other is the fly cover of an LL Bean tent bought by a lady for friends. Both items are critical for them to be of any use. They can contact me at Newberry Street or call me at 786-4007. — No Name, Auburn
