LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted to remove Planning Board member John Ross for missing four or more consecutive meetings, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Tuesday.

The missed meeting clause is outlined in the town’s ordinance, she said.

The board took the action after an executive session Monday night, she said.

Selectmen voted earlier this year to remove Chairman Guy Palmieri for missed meetings as well.

When reached Thursday, Ross said, “It is important that the Planning Board has continuity across meetings and that members of that board attend them. I regret not being able to meet my commitment, and fully understand the select board’s actions.”

Ross was previously a regular member of the Planning Board but voters changed the way the board was configured, making it five regular members and two alternates to make it easier for a majority to attend and business to get done.

Selectmen voted to appoint Ross in June as an alternate for one year.

Anyone interested in filling the remainder of the term to June 2012 may contact the Town Office at 897-3321.

Flagg said selectmen made another change in appointments. They voted Monday to send Animal Control Officer Wayne Atwood a letter thanking him for his years of service.

The board has decided to hire Kevin Wheeler of Chesterville for the position, Flagg said.

Wheeler currently holds the same position in Fayette, she said.
