LEWISTON — Willis M. Tripp, 79, a resident of Fayette Road, Livermore Falls, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born June 24, 1932, in New Gloucester, the son of Laurence and Edna (Strout) Tripp. He was a 1952 graduate of New Gloucester High School. He served as a private in the Medical Corp in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On Sept. 3, 1965, in Westbrook, he married Doris LeConte. He worked for IP for 39 years at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay; in the ground wood department. He retired in 1995.
He was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club and the George Bunten American Legion Post 10 in Livermore Falls. Willis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, and raised beagles and was a past president of the Androscoggin Valley Beagle Club. Willis was also an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Above all else, he loved spending time with his wife and family. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Tripp of Livermore Falls; his daughter, Sharon Bailey and her husband, Bernal, of Oakland; sons, Edmond Tripp of Limington and Michael Tripp and his wife, Chrystal, of Fayette; eight grandchildren, Kimberly and Elizabeth Bailey, Jessica Eadon, Erica, Mason, Karina, and Michaela Tripp and Kyla Timberlake; one great-grandchild, Kennedy Tindal; and brothers, Wallace Tripp of Livermore Falls and Rodger Tripp and his wife, Marilyn, of New Gloucester.
He was predeceased by his parents; grandparents; his son, A. Raymond Maxwell; great-granddaughter, Jade Coates; and infant brother, Richard Tripp.
