LEWISTON — The New York Funk Exchange of Brooklyn will bring its unique arrangements of funk, soul, R&B and jazz to the Franco-American Heritage Center on Friday, Oct. 14.

The New York Funk Exchange, known for its skillful songwriting and dynamic rhythms, is made up of Lewiston native Serena Fortier, vocals; Ray Holman, drums and vocals; Matt Fox, bass and guitar; Jamey Zebrack, keys and vocals; Matty G, guitar; Mozard Pierre-Jacques, trombone; Mike Farrell, saxophone; and Nick Martino, trumpet.

The ensemble, formed in 2007, will perform at 8 p.m. in Heritage Hall as part of the Franco center’s Club Series.

The New York Funk Exchange has shared the stage with Fred Wesley & the New JB’s, Galactic, Melvin Seals, New Riders of the Purple Sage and Martha Reeves & the Vandelas. It was selected in 2009 as a Sonic Bid’s performer at Camp Bisco 8, which included bands such as The Disco Biscuits, STS9, Nas, Damian Marley and among many other performers.

New York Funk Exchange is currently on tour for the winter promoting its debut CD, “Funkonomic Stimulus Plan,” which includes 15 original tracks and features renowned bassist Christian McBride. The album is available for purchase on iTunes, and NYFE’s music can be heard on Pandora Radio.
