AUBURN — The Edward Little High School Class of 1961 held their 50th reunion on Aug. 5 and 6. A “drive in” and “sock hop” chaired by Rachel (Fletcher) Wiley was held at Taber’s on Friday evening with more than 80 people attending. The class gathered at Martindale Country Club on Saturday evening. After the social hour, class president Bruce Taber welcomed the 161 attendees and introduced Maine comedian Justin Mckinney to entertain the gathering.
Prior to dinner, a prayer of grace and remembrance was offered by Steven Hughes in honor of the 49 classmates who have passed away. A queen size quilt made and donated by Connie (Bassett) Verreault was raffled off along with other items to raise money for the ELHS Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Each classmate was given a commemorative CD created by Carole (Noel) Baldwin, Carol (Starzyck) Emerson, Bruce Taber and Sandra (Michael) Labelle. They were also given an up-to-date class directory which would not have been possible without the hard work over the last five years by Bill Dubois. Any future changes of email, phone or address should be directed to Bill at [email protected].
General chairmen of the event were Sandra (Michael) Labelle, Tanya (Fogelsohn) Shapiro and Sheila (Foss) Menke. Decorations, badges, centerpieces and the deceased classmate memory board were done by Nancy (Berry) Jewett, Patty (Mahany) Poulin and Donna (Bailey) Lalonde. Treasurer of the class and committee is Nancy (Baron) Mahar. Bruce Taber created a slide show from the yearbook and collected pictures.
