AUBURN — Joan Y. Cloutier, 68, a resident of Greene, died Friday, Oct. 7, at The Hospice House with family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 31, 1942, a daughter of Rosario and Marie (Caron) Lachance. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this area.

On May 18, 1963, Joan was married to Mr. Jean M. Cloutier at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. Together they settled in Greene to raise their three children as she worked to maintain their home and care for the needs of her children and family. She was also a longtime member of St. Francis Church in Greene.

Among Joan’s favorite enjoyments were reading, knitting, crocheting, spending time at the ocean and annual trips to Canada to visit family and friends. But most of all, she enjoyed quality time and get-togethers with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Joan was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed.

She leaves her husband, Jean M. Cloutier of Greene; two daughters, Diane Robarge and husband, Michael and Denise Bazinet and husband, Roland; and a son, Daniel Cloutier, all residents of Greene; four grandchildren, Brittany and Eric Bazinet and Courtney and Philip Robarge; a sister, Irene Ryan of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeff Brown, Dr. Shirin Sanal, Dr. Rich Kahn, Dr. Roger Austin, the staff on C-2 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and the staff at The Hospice House for the care, compassion and support shown to Joan and her family during her illness.
