PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A Maine special education teacher is facing charges she had sex with a 15-year-old former student and provided him marijuana.
Thirty-six-year-old Jessica Pomerleau, of Limerick, turned herself in Tuesday to the York County sheriff’s office in Alfred.
Pomerleau teaches at Massabesic High School in Waterboro.
Officials say Pomerleau is charged with gross sexual assault and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, both felonies. She was released on bail.
York County sheriff Major William King, Jr., says the investigation began about two weeks ago after the mother of another student told school officials of the alleged relationship.
The Portland Press Herald reports Pomerleau’s lawyer, John Webb, denies his client had a sexual relationship with the student or that drugs were involved.
