NEW VINEYARD — The “Let’s Talk Books” discussion group at the New Vineyard Public Library will host local author Woody Hanstein at the library at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17. Historical society

CARTHAGE — The Carthage Historical Society will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the museum. There will be a 5:30 pot luck supper with the meeting to follow.

Food, craft sale

FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Auxiliary will hold a food and craft sale Friday, Oct. 21, at Franklin Memorial Hospital Medical Art Center lobby, from 8:30 a.m. until sold out.

Library party

NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard Public Library will host a Fall Fun Party for children of all ages from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22. There will be a story time, games, refreshments and the annual scarecrow building. For more information contact the library at 652-2250.

Rummage sale

STRONG — The annual Fall Rummage Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Strong United Methodist Parish House. There will be a bake sale, candy sale, white elephant table, toys, books, puzzles and lots of rummage. A luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Basket bingo

FARMINGTON — Basket bingo will take place Sunday, Oct. 23, at Farmington Elks Lodge, West Farmington. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., games start at 1 p.m. Food concessions available.

This event is a fundraiser for the Farmington Rotary Club. These types of events allowed the Rotary to give more than $30,000 last year to many good causes.

Safe drivers

FARMINGTON — The AARP Driver Safety Program for drivers age 50 and over will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 612 Farmington Falls Road. Artists, crafters

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington’s annual Arts and Crafts Show is seeking artists and crafters from across Maine interested in exhibiting their original and creative work at this open-to-the-public show. This year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the UMF Olsen Student Center on South Street.

Turkey Trot 5K

FARMINGTON — The fourth annual Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. Free T-shirts to the first 100 registered runners. Cost is $10 ($15 on race day), UMF students $8 ($10 on race day), and Kids Fun Run/Walk for ages 10 and under is $2 ($5 on race day).

Kids race starts at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 10. Registration forms may be picked up in advance at the Fitness and Recreation Center or downloaded from the website, www.frc.umf.maine.edu.
