PORTLAND — The Portland Symphony Orchestra will present “Beethoven In The House” for this fall’s PSO youth concert.

The PSO, directed by Robert Moody, and special guests will perform for groups of students on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Merrill Auditorium.

“Beethoven In the House” features some of the composer’s most famous works,  including the first movement of Symphony No. 5, “Fur Elise,” “Moonlight Sonata” and select movements from a variety of symphonies and concertos.

Students will get a glimpse into the life and music of the great composer through on-stage dialogue between Moody and Beethoven as portrayed by actor Mark Honan, who has appeared in plays at the Good Theater and Portland Stage.

Guest pianist will be 16-year-old Amanda Raymond of North Waterboro.

“Beethoven In the House” will be presented at 9:30 a.m. and at 11:10 a.m. (this performance is sold out). For tickets, $5, visit portlandsymphony.org, email [email protected] or call 773-6128.
