FARMINGTON — Ralph C. Virgin Sr., 85, of Carthage, died Monday, Oct, 9, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Weld, March 19, 1926, a son of Alvah and Florence (Hackett) Virgin and had attended schools in Weld. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy overseas including the European Theater.

Ralph enjoyed outside activities with his family including hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He was married Aug. 2, 1947 in Carthage to Ruth G. White, who died in 1996.

Survivors include children, Ralph Virgin Jr. and wife, Judy, of Carthage, Cheryl Virgin of West Burke, Vt., Bruce Virgin and companion, Sandy DuPrey, of Saco, Cynthia Kubic and companion, Kevin Stanley, of Weld, Brian Virgin and wife, Gail, of Dummer, N.H., and Dwayn Virgin of Carthage; brother, George A. Virgin Sr. and wife, Gennie, of Dixfield; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
