DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do any of your readers know why the trio Silver & Gold did not perform at the gazebo in Livermore Falls this summer. — J.W., Jay

ANSWER: Sun Spots has had inquiries about this group before, so she called the number given to her last year and spoke to a member of the trio. It turn out that the group has disbanded, which explains why they didn’t play the gazebo this summer.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Oct. 9 your newspaper ran a story with the title of or something to “Doctors and users alike are scared of bath salts.” I was wondering if I could get a copy of that article. — Zachary Pushee, pushez@mmc.org

ANSWER: The story to which Zach refers was written by a reporter from the Maine Sunday Telegram but then published in the Sun Journal under an agreement several Maine newspapers have to share content. This agreement permits publication in the member newspapers but not on each other’s websites. To find these stories, you need to go to www.pressherald.com. Sun Spots looked up that particular story for you. It’s at http://tinyurl.com/3gppapf.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone who can transfer individual Kodak camera slides and compile them onto a CD. We have numerous slides from our grandparents and want to preserve them onto a CD for all the family members. Thanks. — P. Morgan, Greenwood

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding your Oct. 4 column about the new gas cans, I have a couple things to add. First, the most common mistake people make with the new spouts is that they turn the gas flow “on” before they insert the nozzle into their yard equipment, causing gas to pour everywhere due to the awkward angle required to make it work. These spouts are virtually spill proof if you insert it first, then turn it on.

Second, I have seen spout extensions at my local Walmart (probably available other places that sell gas cans) for around $8. They slide onto the existing spout and add about eight inches to the spout. Best of all, the extension is flexible thus solving the problem of gassing up your automobile. — Dennis, Chesterville

ANSWER: Great tips, Dennis. Thanks for writing.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know what experience anyone has had with the style infrared electric space heaters, such as EdenPure, etc. I wonder if there performance is any better than regular heaters to make them worth the extra cost. Thank you. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: One of Sun Spots’ colleagues bought one and really likes it. Readers, what do you think?
