NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce will host a Business to Business Expo from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norway Armory on Friday, Oct. 21.

Chamber Director John Williams said the B2B Expo is a departure from the business showcase.

The one-day event is intended to be a networking opportunity for area businesses to promote one another, Williams said.

“What’s great about this event is that it is truly focused on business in our area,” he said. “This will incite conversation between the businesses, what they are doing, what they need to do, helping each other with resources and ways to not struggle so much.”

The B2B came about when chamber members requested a business-to-business event.

“They wanted a place to display their company’s products and services, a way to gather information and resources that will help them expand their business and the B2B will do just that,” Williams said.

Project Manager Sue Goulet said the B2B will not be a public trade show.

“Anyone involved in a business is welcome,” she said. “If you aren’t renting a space, all you need to get in is a business card and you can even write one out at the door.”

The event will kick off with an “Our Maine Focus” breakfast at 8:15.

Maine Secretary of State Charlie Summers will share his insights on how businesses can succeed in a difficult economy, Williams said.

There will be a business roundtable at 12:30 p.m, led by SCORE. “The discussion will be health care and the changes that have been made in the state of Maine,” Williams said.

Peter Gore, legislative advocate from the Maine State Chamber of Commerce will be featured at the discussion.

“Basically, other than that, businesses can display their services or products,” said Williams. “And other businesses can attend the event to learn about what is available in the area.”

Goulet said there are still openings for sponsors.

Sponsors so far include event sponsor, Oxford Networks; breakfast sponsor, Black Bear Entertainment; supporting sponsor, Oxford Federal Credit Union; media sponsor, Sun Media; business media sponsor, Employment Times; and morning hospitality sponsor, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
