FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) of Greater Franklin County and Western Maine Community Action (WMCA) are partnering on the next two Tuesdays to help those in need sign up for fuel assistance at the Farmington Walmart.
WMCA staff will be in the HCC mobile health unit to talk with visitors about the program that helps qualified families keep their house warm during the winter. Eligibility is based on family size and income.
Oct. 18 and 25 are the final dates this year that the mobile health unit will be at Walmart. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. and no appointment is necessary. Drop in to sign up for fuel assistance or to get the usual free health screenings offered at every visit. This includes a free ScoreHealth screening that includes a cholesterol and blood pressure check and information about changes one can make to improve health.
Residents may also stop by for a quick blood pressure check, a physician referral or to chat with staff. HCC personnel can provide residents and visitors with information about the services that Franklin Community Health Network provides in the region.
Services are made possible though funding from the United Way. All visits are weather permitting and cancellations will be announced on WKTJ radio at 99.3 FM. For additional information, contact the Healthy Community Coalition at 779-3136.
