LEWISTON — The Lewiston/Auburn Local Consumer Council (L/A LCC) and the Disability Rights Center are sponsoring a hospital treatment focus group from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St., in Room A, first floor.
The L/A LCC is a part of the Consumer Council Systems of Maine. Its mission is to represent fellow consumers with an effective, organized voice in shaping public policy and mental health services, while working to advance recovery oriented, consumer-driven mental health care.
The DRC is Maine’s protection and advocacy agency for anyone with mental health disabilities. It is a nonprofit agency, independent of state and federal government.
Together, the groups are gathering information about individuals most recent hospital emergency room visits, or crisis services use, in order to advocate for better treatment and help influence the client-care model that is being addressed by the legislature.
