LEWISTON — The second open mic night at Trinity Episcopal Church will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday Oct. 29.

Lewiston residents, singer-songwriter Denise Dill and other musicians, and Jessy Kendall of New Beginnings Outreach have teamed up with Klara Tammany of the Center for Wisdom’s Women to host monthly open mic nights. It is planned to be a monthly event.

“Lewiston is such a creative and vibrant community. We wanted to create an event that allows people of all ages and mediums, wherever you are in your creative process, to have a space to share that energy … and to be supported and empowered to continue, said Dill, who is a food educator at St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine and has been involved in the Lots to Gardens program.

The open mic will take place in the sanctuary of the church at Bates and Spruce streets, next to Kennedy Park.

Sign-up starts at the door at 5:30 p.m and continues through the night on a first-come, first-served basis.

The open mics are open to singers, dancers, poets and comedy acts. They are for all ages and alcohol-free. For more information, email Dill at [email protected].

Kendall, who has been living in Lewiston for the past seven years, has put out a compilation of music and self-publishes a monthly literary journal called Letter Founder. She and Dill have released a CD titled “Complex Community.”
