Lori Grassette and Bill Hoyt will play a variety of instruments, including spoons, bones, a cajon and a harmonica, as part of a magic hoedown and thrill showdown at 49 Franklin in Rumford on Saturday, Oct. 22. Scott Grassette, owner of 49 Franklin and a magician for 38 years, hopes to perform an escape act where he will be shackled inside a wooden box that is screwed shut and surrounded with ratchet straps. His performance will be part of a larger event, the Worldwide Escape Artists Relay, when artists from around the world will perform a variety of escapes. Doors open at 5 p.m. for preshow antics and a menu of pulled pork sandwich, wings and fried green beans. Showtime is 6:30 p.m. Tickets $8 in advance (online at www.49franklin.com), $10 at the door.
