LEWISTON — The Franco-American Heritage Center will present the toe-tapping music of Fiddle-icious, an ensemble of musicians from youth to retirees, on Sunday, Oct. 30,
The orchestra, directed by master fiddler Don Roy and accompanied by Cindy Roy on piano, plays tunes from the Quebecois, Acadian, Scottish and Irish traditions. Their performances feature reels, jigs, aires, marches, hornpipes, waltzes, step dancing and singing.
Members of Fiddle-icious play fiddles, guitars, flutes, banjos, tin whistles, accordions, cellos, violas, mandolins, harps, stand-up bass and other instruments. Their music is scored for beginners up to advanced players, creating a full, rich sound.
“Fiddle tunes live only as long as they are played and passed on,” Roy said. “Fiddle-icious brings life to traditional music, but beyond that we celebrate the friendships and sense of community that have developed.”
Tickets to the 2 p.m. concert in Performance Hall are $14, $12 for students and seniors. Call 689-2000 or visit www.francocenter.org.
