Cougars are good enough to win the Class B championship, but that run defense still has its skittish moments.

5. Brunswick (6-2)

November is almost here, and that’s when the Dragons typically do their most damage.

If QB Paul McDonough can’t go in the playoffs, this ranking is possibly little more than a tribute to a heck of a regular season.

Another solid season for Livermore Falls native Kevin Kezal and his Trojans.

If Sam Dexter isn’t on the Fitzpatrick Trophy ballot, you can have mine.

9. Bonny Eagle (5-3)

If you don’t think the Scots (five straight wins) scare the daylights out of Cheverus as a potential semifinal opponent, you haven’t been paying attention.

10. Mountain Valley (7-1)

Falcons are chasing their fifth Class B title in eight years. Go ahead, bet against them. Dare ya.

Player of the Week: Jeff Turcotte, Lewiston. Rushed for 257 yards and five touchdowns in one of the highest-scoring games in Maine high school football history, a 62-49 win over Cony.
