AUBURN — The party supply company iParty might just stay awhile.
CEO Sal Perisano said Wednesday that the temporary Halloween storefront set up in Shaw’s plaza — a first for the company in Maine — has seen strong sales and a warm reception. The business may open here permanently in 2012.
“We can’t make that call yet but we love the town,” Perisano said. “This is our first exposure to Auburn-Lewiston and it’s a delightful place. We think we’re going to do well there but we’ll make the assessment after our season.”
It would be iParty’s fourth store in Maine. Others are already in South Portland, Bangor and Augusta. A typical store employs 20 people, full and part time.
According to its website, iParty has 50 stores in New England and Florida stocking thousands of supplies, costumes and accessories.
The temporary Halloween shop will leave 600 Center St. next week. Pet Quarters closed in that plaza on Sept. 24. Fashion Bug closed before that.
Shaw’s owns the plaza. Spokesman Steve Sylven said the company is actively marketing the space and seeking new tenants.
