Betty Shibles, owner of Bakers Market Café, wants to give Old Man Winter a chance at her café at 285 Main Street in Wilton. With new insulation, a renovated kitchen, a new baker, and ideas for eat-in or take-out dishes, she is ready to take on Old Man Winter.

The café is open Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Stop in and see local bakers from Marble Family Farms bringing in their homemade breads. Knowlton Corner Farm brings in their popular cinnamon and maple sticks and steaming popovers to have with our soups and chowders.

During the months of November and December, don’t forget to place your orders for those holiday pies.

One popular community program held at the Café is the monthly Library Book Club, held on the third Thursday of each month. Bring the book you are reading to share, or come another day for some chowder and popovers during the Sing to Me Series held twice a month, on Friday, until 8:30 p.m.

A new program this fall is ABC, After Baby Comes. Young mothers and their little ones are invited to come together at the Café for doughnuts and coffee each Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The Bakers Market Café offers a little bit for many. It is a gathering place for residents, a place, on Saturday, to Break-the-Fast, and a warm and friendly environment for those who want to enjoy a half sandwich and a cup of hot soup on a chilly day. Stop in or call 645-7107 for more information.
