Established in 1978, the Franklin County Children’s Task Force has been the designated Child Abuse and Neglect Council for Franklin County for 32 years.

Through its mission of strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect through mobilizing community resources and advocating for and providing services that promote healthy children and families, the agency provides a wide range of services for Franklin County which include parenting education, home visitation service through Maine Families-Franklin, child abuse prevention education for professionals, parents and students, and advocacy for the well-being of children and families in our communities.

The work that is done starts pre-natal when families are first engaged in home visiting. The visits provide the families with the information and resources they need to provide their children with the essential physical and emotional tools to thrive and form healthy attachments.

The FCCTF’s school-based programs begin in kindergarten when children in our county are introduced to Bullying Prevention and Personal Body Safety programs. As children reach middle school age, the focus turns inward on building self esteem and respect; the student’s peers and natural support systems are utilized to educate them through partnerships with the school using civil rights teams.

The FCCTF also runs a free clothing exchange for parents of small children. Simply give them a call and go in and browse.
