WINSLOW — Normand J. Roy Sr., 78, of Winslow passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
He was born in Lewiston, March 12, 1933, the son of the late Alfred and Maria (Boisclair) Roy.
Following his schooling, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy from March 14, 1951 through March 29, 1955. Normand spent most of his adult life in Connecticut, but returned to Maine for his retirement years.
On July 30, 1955, he married the love of his life, the former Jacqueline J. Gervais. He was a past member of the Maine Snowmobile Association and the National Rifle Association. Normand was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.
Normand truly enjoyed life and learning about new things. Just three months ago he got his first computer and was learning about the internet. He also enjoyed playing his guitar.
He was a man that not only provided for his family, but was a great resource. He taught them how to be independent and was always available to help them in any way he could. He was a great husband, father, and great-grandfather, who will be sadly missed.
Normand is survived by his loving family, his wife, Jacqueline; his son, Normand Roy Jr.; his daughters, Deborah Roy Roberts, Diane Roy, Cathy Roy, and Donna Ross; his brother, Raymond Roy; and his grandchildren, Jackie, Ben, Corinne, Danielle, Meaghan, Joey, Olivia, Mitchell, and Abigail.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Kevin Roy; his granddaughter, Cass Roberts; and his sister, Lorraine Novay.
