LEWISTON — Beatrice Anna Danforth Hawkins, 80, a former resident of Wilson Pond Road, North Monmouth, died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Montello Manor.

She was born in Auburn, May 1, 1931, the daughter of Stanley Wilbur and Beatrice Anna (Sherman) Danforth. Beatrice attended schools in Wales and Webster Junior High, Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1948.

She married Norman V. Hawkins on Sept. 2, 1950, in Monmouth. Mr. Hawkins passed away 1987. Beatrice was employed by the state of Maine, Department of Nursing Education at AMHI f/k/a River View Hospital, Augusta, Maine State Library, Maine Department of Education, Maine Employment Security Commission, Maine Professional & Financial Regulation, Maine Public Utilities, Southern Kennebec 7th District Court and the Law office of George H. Hunt, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Order of Eastern Star; a past matron, past secretary, past district deputy, past worthy grand matron of the Grand Chapter of Maine; White Shrine of Jerusalem; Past Worth High Priestess, past secretary, past supreme instructor and served as supreme parliamentarian 5 years; Mother Advisor of Readfield Assembly International Order of Rainbow for Girls; member of the National Association of Parliamentarians; past president of Maine Association of Parliamentarians; Winthrop Business & Professional Women’s Club; past president and served the Maine Federation of BPW as parliamentarian; Member of the NOR’EASTER MAINE CHAPTER, M.L. HUMMEL COLLECTOR’S Club and past president.

A lady of many and varied interests, she loved her home, she also enjoyed her memberships in fraternal organizations, cooking, crocheting, needle point, embroidery, reading, studying and teaching parliamentary law/procedure. Devoted to her family, she was dearly loved by her son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Dwight N. Hawkins and his wife, Susan, of North Monmouth; a granddaughter, Karen H. Ainsworth and her husband, Scott, of North Monmouth; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Chase Ainsworth; a sister, S.B. Ernestine D. McDonald/Greenwood/King, of Lisbon Falls; a niece, Shelli-Hope McDonald Pride, of Portland; and a nephew, Tracy-March McDonald, of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Norman in 1987; and a brother, Stanley W. Danforth Jr.
