Parenting program
LEWISTON — 1-2-3-4 Parents! is a three-part parenting program for parents with children ages 1-4 years old. It will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17, at Advocates for Children, B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St.
The class features video presentations and discussion. The following topics will be discussed: basic developmental stages, a look at parenting styles, the importance of family roles, positive discipline strategies, tips to prevent misbehavior and more.

MECHANIC FALLS — American Legion Post 150 will hold a Texas hold ’em tournament at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Legion Hall on Elm Street.

Barker Mill fair
AUBURN — A Christmas fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Barker Mill Arms, 143 Mill St.
Homemade goodies include brownies, whoopie pies and peanut brittle. The kitchen will be open for doughnuts, coffee, hot dogs, soda, chips, meatball subs and beans.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle, food baskets and a door prize.
Methodist fair
MINOT — The Minot Methodist Church fair “Susanna’s Treasures” will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the church vestry.
Free coffee will be offered and a luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Crafts, including knit goods, mittens and decorations will be available as well as Rada products.
Home-baked food will include cookies, cakes, breads, pies, candy and home-canned items as well as an old fashioned cheese wheel.
There will be free drawings for door prizes as well as a silent auction table.
‘Americans in Paris’
LEWISTON — Dr. Erica Hirshler, Croll Senior Curator of American Paintings, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, will present an illustrated lecture titled “Americans in Paris: John Singer Sargent and the Daughters of Edward D. Veterans events
LEWISTON — A free lunch for veterans only will be held at the Green Ladle, sponsored by the Auburn Exchange, with speaker Congressmen Michael Michaud, at noon Tuesday, Nov. 8. Reservations are required. Call 240-0507 or email Dave Projansky at [email protected].
Michaud helped get the new clinic in Lewiston, which has a possible opening date of March or April.
On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at 7 a.m., a free breakfast for Veterans will be held at Lewiston High School.
At 10 a.m., “Pass in Review” and a musical tribute to veterans will take place at the Armory on Central Avenue. At 1:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, the unveiling of the 22nd stone with 216 names on it and the dedication of the new Military Jeep Monument will take place.
A special ceremony at Holy Family Church for veterans, families and friends will take place at 6:30 p.m. All these activities are free.
VFW dance
LISBON — A dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the VFW Post 9459, 52 Lisbon Road. Music will be provided by a DJ. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Christmas fair
AUBURN — A Christmas fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Sixth Street Congregational Church.
A bake table, hand-knit items, gift items, candy, gently used items, jewelry and a Secret Santa room for the children will be available. An Adirondack chair will lead the raffle table. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A special feature will be a scale size farm with animals along with other handcrafted wood items.
Chili, rock ‘n roll
BUCKFIELD — The Nezinscot Valley Music Boosters will hold the 2nd annual Chili and Rock ‘n Roll event at Buckfield Jr./Sr High School on Saturday, Nov. 12. The event features a chili cook-off with judging open to the community at 5:30 and a free concert by the Rockin’ Roadrunners beginning at 6.

Women’s Club
GREENE — The Women’s Club of Greene will be at their usual spot at the Leavitt Area Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12, where they will be selling 50/50 and mini raffle tickets to support their annual Christmas program for less privileged seniors and children.
Donations of money, gift certificates for food and other items, as well as new hats, coats, boots, socks and mittens are still needed to make 2011’s “Keep Me Warm” Christmas Program a success again this year. Those interested in helping should call Brenda Theriault as soon as possible at 946-5750 for more information on how to adopt a senior, a child, a family or to provide a single item donation, as there is a deadline of Dec. 9.
Leavitt craft fair
TURNER — Leavitt Area High School will hold its 35th annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, just off Lower Street.
More than 100 crafters will participate. The Music Boosters will provide food for lunch and snacks. All proceeds will benefit Leavitt activities.
Veterans service
LEEDS — Leeds Veterans Day service will take place at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Veteran’s Memorial in Town Center, to honor those who have served. Coordinated by the Leeds Historical Society.
