Twin Cities voters will go to the polls Nov. 8 to elect 14 city councilors in Lewiston and Auburn.
Video profiles for the contested races in both cities, as well as written profiles, are available online at sunjournal.com/election/2011.
All seven seats for the Auburn Council are up for election, and 12 candidates are vying for them.
In Ward 1, the names of Tizz Crowley and Robert Spruill Jr. will appear on the ballot. Spruill stepped out of the race after the ballots were printed, however, leaving Crowley the only candidate.
Incumbents Robert Hayes in Ward 2 and David Young in Ward 4 have no opposition on the ballot, and neither does Ward 3 candidate Mary LaFontaine. However, Young and LaFontaine each faces a write-in candidate.
In Ward 5, Evan Cyr faces Leroy Walker.
The big race is among five candidates for two open at-large seats. Incumbent Belinda Gerry faces challengers Jeremiah Bartlett, J. Michael Lemay, Ronald Potvin and Joshua Shea.
All seven seats on the Lewiston Council are also open. Profiles of the Lewiston Council candidates were printed in the Sun Journal on Oct. 31.
The Twin Cities two mayoral positions are open as well. In Auburn, Jonathan LaBonte has no challengers.
In Lewiston, Walter Hill, Ronald Jean, Robert Macdonald, Mark Paradis and Stanley Pelletier are vying for the mayor’s job.
Profiles for the Lewiston and Auburn mayors are being printed in the Sun Journal on Nov. 2
