Holly Berry Fair

NAPLES — The 21st annual Holly Berry Craft Fair, sponsored by Project Grad 2012, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Lake Region High School.

Shoppers will find a selection of handmade crafts and creations. Live entertainment will be offered throughout the day. Santa will visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and children may have their photos taken with him. Luncheon items, including soups, chowder and chili, will be available at the concession stand.

Clocks ticking

LOCKE MILLS — The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the society building, Main Street. Mike Lovejoy of Paris will present a program on the history of clocks and will show some old and unusual clocks.

Lovejoy was with Hutchins Jewelers/Clocks in Norway and subsequently became the proprietor as well as clock tender of the one in the Norway opera house.

Community dance

MECHANIC FALLS — The Relay For Life of Oxford Hills KeyBank Team will host a community dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the American Legion.

The cost for the dance is $10 a person or $15 a couple The McCarthys, a local country/rock band, has donated their time. Food will be available. Advanced tickets may be purchased at the KeyBank in Norway, Oxford SACC and Preschool Program and Northeast Bank in Harrison. Call 539-4563 for more information.

Texas Hold ‘Em

MECHANIC FALLS — American Legion Post 150 will hold a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Legion Hall, Elm Street.

Buy-in is $30; pay-out depends on how many players. There is a 100-player limit. Food will be available for purchase.

Lions tournament

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Road. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $55, which includes a stipend for state license fees. Food and refreshments will be available. The event is limited to 100 players. Proceeds will be used to provide services that the Lion’s Club renders to the community.

Christmas fair

WATERFORD — A Christmas fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Wilkins House, Plummer Hill. There will be knit goods, fancy table, Grandma’s Attic and Grandpa’s Basement and baked items.

Coffee and muffins and later a luncheon of chowder and pumpkin soup, sandwiches and apple crisp, will be served. Proceeds will go to the buildings improvement fund.

Bulbs available

LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Post, American Legion, and Auxiliary Unit 68 will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. Refreshments will follow.

All veterans, auxiliary members and the community are invited. To purchase bulbs in memory or in honor of anyone, call Nancy Gionet at 890-5359 or Judi Foster at 665-2949 or see Anita Hakala while at the post. Bulbs are $2 each.

Bridge results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 28 in the Recreation Building, King Street, where an eight-table Mitchell movement was played.

Finishing first N/S flight A were Della Starbird, Oxford, and Mike True, Lewiston; second, Pete Cummings, South Paris, and Mike Quinn, Otisfield; third, Hazel Glazier, Norway, and Priscilla Rooth, Brunswick, who also were first in flight B and C.

Second in flight B were Jim Krainin, Naples, and Milt McKeen, Bridgton, who also were second in flight C; third, Marlee Turner, Casco, and Karen MacNeil, Casco, who also were third in flight C.

Finishing first in flight A E/W were Rick Verrill, Gorham, and Paul Kahl, Gorham, who were first overall and first in flight B; second, Cynthia Clifford, Lewiston, and Claire Lyons, Lewiston, who also were second in flight B; third, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, South Paris, who also were third in B and first in flight C; second in flight C, Hank Sakrison, Poland, and Denny Raymond, Waterford.
