The “Hill For Mayor” campaign ad in the Oct. 22 Sun Journal bulleted Walter Hill’s experience as a legistative liaison for the Lewiston School Committee.
In this role Walter worked with legislators, legislative committees and other policymakers. One of the key issues Walter dealt with was the school funding formula, which is of critical importance to our school department and the city. Any changes to educational funding by the current legislative body could have had serious consequences to the taxpayers of Lewiston.
It is important to consider the promises being made by the mayoral candidates. Promises to rein in council members, to stop or eliminate state and federal services to the city, or to change city ordinances to better suit the candidates’ views are nothing but empty promises.
Walter’s experience is what he is promising to bring to the mayor’s seat.
Paul St. Pierre, Lewiston
