BETHEL — “Every Closet Holds a Story,” a Western Maine Senior College Down Home Maine program, will be presented from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium.

The evening’s presenter, Donna Sheerin Gillis, creates Texture of Life quilts out of the clothing of loved ones who have died. She will present a slide show of her quilts and discuss her process, displaying three quilts from her latest work.

Starting from the interview to the finished product, each quilt has a story and is unique to the person it represents. All quilts are her original designs and represent the history and celebration of life and of a particular life.

Gillis’ goal is to produce a piece of ancestral history to follow the generations into the future; her purpose, to mend the hearts that knew the soul, one stitch at a time.

Western Maine Senior College offers multi-session courses, workshops, outdoor activities, special events and social gatherings to members age 50 and over.

The Down Home Maine series features unique people from the community. Programs are open to the public free; donations are accepted to offset senior college expenses. Google Western Mountains Senior College to reach the website.
