LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus, area agency on aging, offers free (unless noted) classes for the older adult learner. The classes are designed to help people make informed choices about aging well, living independently and doing it all safely.

The classes offered this month are:

Basic Photography for the Holidays: 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 4; instructor, John Theberge; bring camera.

Aging in Place: A Safe Journey through Your Bathroom: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9; instructor, Lynne Maxfield-Cole, Decorating Plus; bring questions and photos.

AARP Safe Driving: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10; cost, $14, non-AARP; $12, AARP members; veterans, spouses, free with military ID; instructor, Tom Harvey. Drivers 55 and older who complete the class are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums for three years.

Thriving in the World of Hearing Loss: 1 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14; instructor, Elissa Moran, Maine Center on Deafness; learn about new technology, civil rights and how self-advocacy can make the journey easier.

Consumer Rights: Protect Yourself against ID Theft and Scams: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15; instructor, Jill K. Randall, Maine Legal Services for the Elderly.

What’s Happening to My Body As It Ages: Palliative Care: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17; instructor, Dr. Bruce Condit, director, Palliative Care Team, CMMC. The goal of palliative care is to relieve suffering and provide the best possible quality of life for people facing the pain, symptoms and stresses of serious illness.

Living with Alzheimer’s for People with Alzheimer’s: 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 21. To register, call Cindy Beck, Alzheimer’s Association, 1-800-272-3900.
