LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has returned to its newly renovated facility at 97 Blake St. It re-opened with a Halloween party on Oct. 31.
Construction continues on the adjacent Healy Terrace project, so people are asked to park on the street and enter from Blake Street. To continue unpacking, the center will close at noon each day the first week of November.
The writing and poetry sessions will continue. At 10 a.m. Mondays a writers’ workshop is held. Special homemade morning munchies are provided. On Tuesdays Amanda Solche, a Bates College junior will lead a poetry lunch where participants will share and talk about an empowering poem. This month’s diary writing workshop is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.
The center will host a Good Food Gathering, sponsored by the Good Food For Lewiston project, at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. Friends and neighbors are invited to eat wholesome food and share ideas about how to build better access to healthy food in the community.
Kim Jacques from Revelation Massage will give her second workshop on massage and self-care from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Other programs for personal nurture will be offered on Tuesdays, including Wisdom Circle at 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 8 and 22, with Sarah Wood from the Sexual Assault Crisis Center and Pam Beliveau with “Inner Spirit” from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.
The student nurses are available every Thursday morning for blood pressure and weight checks and for one-on-one conversations about health concerns. They will lead a workshop on menopause at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
The center will host its annual open house on Saturday, Dec. 3. This year will be a grand re-opening celebration.
The center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Friday. It will be closed for Veterans Day and Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week.
