BUCKFIELD — Selectmen on Tuesday night authorized board member Rodney Allen and Town Manager Glen Holmes to ask Oxford Networks what it is asking for its building.

The building could house the town office and fire and rescue departments, as well as rental space. Allen said he didn’t want to get into looking at engineering firms for renovations until officials know if the town could afford to buy it.

The board accepted the Personnel Policy after a change that would allow longtime employees who chose to take town insurance they hadn’t been taking realize the same benefits and costs as those who had been taking it.

The board also voted to keep the same Point of Service, which includes a $200 deductible. Selectman Eileen Hotham suggested they might want to look at higher deductibles in the future.

A swap shop report was given that showed continued progress in the quantity of reusable items leaving the shop. Some 12 tons were weighed out of the shop in the last three months.
