AUBURN — A documentary film that explores the reality of human trafficking in this country will be shown Wednesday at a local theater.
The Auburn Police Department and Flagship Cinemas teamed up to present “Sex + Money” at two free showings at 1 and 7 p.m. at 746 Center St. Due to mature content, viewers must be at least 18 years old to attend, Deputy Chief Jason Moen said Thursday in a written statement.
The movie “is a very powerful film that shines a light on the darkness of human trafficking,” Moen wrote. “This feature-length documentary follows a group of photojournalists as they travel across the United States, seeking to understand how the sexual exploitation of children has become the nation’s fastest growing form of organized crime and what can be done to stop it.”
The screenings are due to efforts of organizers of a conference titled “Not Here,” a seminar and rally held in Auburn at the end of September to highlight the existence of human trafficking in the United States.
