After watching the forum for candidates Oct. 25, it became evident that those sitting members up for re-election and those running for office who attend council meetings, asking questions and offering suggestions, are ready to handle the task of being the future councilors.
I support the sitting members, particularly Belinda Gerry. She is, and will be, a passionate and strong supporter of residents’ best interests.
I also support Tizz Crowley, who makes it her business to do the homework needed to understand the most complex of the city’s problems.
It’s also interesting that someone running for mayor insists on telling constituents how he will run the city to prosperity, save money and get things done by working with another city. The candidate is running for the wrong seat; that job belongs to the councilors.
The mayor presides over meetings, attends functions and votes to break a tie, if necessary.
