DURHAM, N.H. — The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team fought back from a 3-0 deficit, but could not find the equalizer as the Black Bears fell to New Hampshire 3-2 in Hockey East action Saturday evening.
The Black Bears (3-4-1) were trailing 3-0 when Spencer Abbott put Maine on the board at 13:50 of the second period. Abbott collected another tally at 5:14 of the third period on a pass from Joey Diamond.
Maine outshot the Wildcats (4-4-1) by a margin of 33-28 in the game. The Black Bears were scoreless in three power-play chances.
Maine goalie Martin Ouellette stopped 25 shots, while DiGirolamo made 31 saves to earn the win in net for New Hampshire.

Colby 20, Tufts 10
WATERVILLE — Christian Romano picked up a pair of interceptions in the fourth quarter as Colby held on for a 20-10 victory over Tufts in football action Saturday.
Senior quarterback Nick Kmetz, one of 17 seniors playing in his final home game, was 16-for-27 with 183 yards and no interceptions for the Mules (3-4).
Spencer Goupal averaged 4.8 yards per carry with 12 rushes for 57 yards, while Luke Duncklee carried the ball five times for 27 yards for Colby. Defensive end Ryan Veillette had a team-high nine tackles, two sacks and two quarterback hurries.
Ryan Pollock paced the Jumbos (0-7) with 67 yards on 20 carries and also had six receptions for 22 yards. Quarterback Johnny Lindquist had 101 yards passing on 17 completions and rushed 15 times for 30 yards.
